Il “Secolo Americano” è ovviamente il secolo alle nostre spalle – il XX – ma è anche, nella mente di alcuni strateghi statunitensi, il “new american century” cioé il XXI sotto egida Usa. Questa sezione anziché svolgere una disamina storia e storiografica sugli Stati Uniti d’America nel Novecento, muove dal nodo della guerra in Vietnam, per trattare i fatti alla base degli avvenimenti recenti: la politica reganiana e la guerra in Iraq. Ad eccezione del testo riguardante la guerra in Vietnam, la sezione è in lingua inglese.
